Serial Shopping 101

What the heck is a serial shopper? I am going to say it is The Boot Babe's term for what others call hoarding, having a shopping addiction, or being a shopaholic.  Saying shopaholic and the other terms give off a negative connotation like we have a problem Serial Shopper at least sounds cooler and has a bit more #BootMafia and #BootBabeMafia tone to it. Well, I'll tell you what the problem really is. These dang awesome boot makers just keep making cuter and more unique boots in our sizes and great stores like Boots n' Rags keep selling them to us.  That right there is the problem.  How do they expect a Boot Babe to resist? Don't let anyone tell you that you have too many boots! You do not need that negativity in your life!

Boot Babe dreams!

So y'all here are some all around tips for my sister Serial Boot Shoppers aka Boot Babes.

Budgeting:

Ahhh, the bank account struggle is real Boot Babes! To avoid bank account accountability issues, The Boot Babe suggests setting up a secondary boot checking or savings account or a Boot Jar for your boot money so you don't get skinned for shoppin' too hard! This helps to keep your spending in check and it is easy to track what you can spend on upcoming sales.

Just look at all of those homeless boots!

Layaway. Yep. If they have it, use it! It helps you keep to your budget and get what you want. There ain't no shame in spreading out those payments y'all!  You get what you want and without blowing your budget all at once! Shoot, this even gives you some motivation because you know what you are working toward!

Discounts are a good thing! Look for sales, coupon codes, all of that.  Every little bit saved helps y'all! Don't think that it is shameful to pay a dab under retail. We work hard for our money so be smart when y'all let go of a little.

If your Boot Budget is runnin' a little low and you KNOW you want to expand it, look for places to cut corners.  Cut the cable cord if you work so much that you hardly watch tv! Boot Babes, we shop more than we watch tv y'all so is that $150 a month really worth it?  At least try to get a cheaper plan.  Ok, the cheaper plan thing, check with your phone provider periodically and see if they can offer you a better and cheaper plan.  That $20 you might save adds up for boots! Look around and I am sure there are places to cut corners. Y'all shop around, even on insurance and credit cards call and let them know you are a loyal customer and every now and then you can get a smidge of a better rate.

For clothes, I know I know that some Boot Babes want to be trendy and FUN but check the great consignment pages on Facebook and shop off season! The savings really can add up and give you more of a boot budget. Remember y'all, it is the boots that make the outfit anyway!

Rebates sites and apps are great! Use them and get money back on what you already buy! Y'all, The Boot Babe LOVES ebates. If I am buying big ticket items at Lowe's, Home Depot, Target, Wal-Mart I use ebates and pick up at the store! Y'all can do this to save time and get money back!

Ulta also has a great rewards program Boot Babes! You can use manufacturer coupons, their coupons, and their sales together and use ebates on top of that! Ulta is great for saving money on beauty expenses y'all! Shop smarter!

Make a List and Check it Twice:

All Boot Babes know that we we see a deal, we can't stand to pass it up. However, buying because it is cheap but you don't love it won't make you as happy as buying what you love Babes!  Make a paper wish list or even better a Pinterest wish list and try to stick to that. Lookin' at a pair for a few weeks will tell you if you just like it or truly want it. This is great to curb impulse buys on boots that may be dang pretty but have a toe or heel you know you can't wear. Over time you can delete as you add to your closet or even better, if you stop loving it on Pinterest you can just remove it from your list because you know it no longer is a boot you want even though you may still think it is right pretty.  This keeps us focused and helps us only buy what really is something we love and that will be in our closet for years to come.

When the boxes come:

Just another boot box from the sample sale.

Aside from being home, your trunk or closet makes a great hiding spot until the coast is clear. I do not think there is a Boot Babe out there that has not at least attempted to hide boots coming home in the closet at least once.  Don't feel rushed! When you get them, take your time and know that opening them is a little special reward for being such an awesome Boot Babe! Y'all we need time to smell them, love them, and enjoy our purchases or even to share the haul on social media! You know it is ain't really your boots until you make it Facebook and Boot Babe official!

There is more to this than y'all think! When the boots come, try them on. Walk inside with them.  If they don't fit and you don't love 'em, Don't KEEP THEM! Y'all can stretch some but if they hurt don't chance it! You can't go on a foot shrinking diet Boot Babes!  So, immediately if there is no love, return if you can or put them up for sale.  You don't want wasted boot money taking up space! Boot Babes, the goal is to wear and love wearing our boots not to curate an unworn but pretty boot museum in our closets! Getting your money back to reinvest will make you Happy Happy Happy Babes!

Time after time:

So you loved them then but not now, wellll then Honey, it is time to let them go!  If after some period of time your boots no longer fit, you do not love them like you did, or you just do not wear them, rehome them! Boots need loving homes where they are cherished and your fellow Boot Babes love a great pair of preloved boots at a steal! Letting go may be hard but getting another pair that makes your little heart flutter makes it all worth it Boot Babes!

So there are my best tips to keep your serial boot  shopping afloat and to add a little extra jingle to your Boot Jar.  Remember, shop smart and keep it fun Boot Babes!

Love y’all and until next time, let your boots rock your socks!
